BIO: Lieutenant Commander Kelly Williamson is an accomplished leader with more than 20 years experience leading and managing diverse teams at the tactical and operational levels in both a deployed and domestic capacity within the Department of National Defence. Williamson was part of the Canadian Armed Forces’ disaster response teams sent in to help the people of Haiti and Nepal when violent earthquakes hit each of those countries. She was promoted to her current rank in 2012.

Prior to joining government, she built a distinguished career in executive leadership roles in the agriculture industry and was named to the Saskatchewan Agricultural Hall of Fame for her outstanding achievements in the sector.

Seventy percent of the employees in Yamashita’s firm were women, as were about 66% of its owners. She is co-chair of the Ascend Canada Chief Inclusion Officer Forum, where she works to overcome inclusion obstacles and address the shortage of Asian leaders in corporate Canada.

In 2014, she received the Ontario Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award and was named to Fortunes 50 Most Powerful Women International list in 2016. BIO: Brenda Rideout joined Tangerine (formerly ING DIRECT Canada) in 1999 as director of software development and quickly moved up the ranks to senior executive leadership positions. She was instrumental in growing the bank’s Canadian presence and led its brand transition to Tangerine. In 2007, she was awarded the Most Innovative CIO award from Bank Systems and Technology magazine and in 2008 she was the recipient of the CIO of the Year award from the Canadian Alliance Technology Association.

BIO: Physics and astronomy professor Samar Safi-Harb left a long-term space-astrophysics NASA grant at the Goddard Space Flight Centre in Maryland to start a world-class graduate research program in astrophysics and develop the astronomy curriculum at the University of Manitoba. She is an expert in the field of supernova remnants (SNRs) and under her leadership, she and her team have made significant breakthroughs, including discovering some of the most magnetic stars in the universe and finding evidence that the most massive stars do not always form black holes.

BIO: Elisabeth Baugh’s achievements over 19 years as CEO at Ovarian Cancer Canada include merging two charities to create one voice for ovarian cancer, raising the organization to a national presence, development of education and awareness programs and mission oversight. Today, Ovarian Cancer Canada is focused on a government relations advocacy campaign directed at ensuring women have access to treatments and increasing funding. Baugh chaired the first-ever World Ovarian Cancer Day on May 8, 2013. This event, which she continues to lead, now boasts more than 100 organizational participants in 28 countries, and has formally become the World Ovarian Cancer Coalition. Baugh has received the Order of Ontario and Queen’s Jubilee Medal.
